What is this Taster Session?
A relaxed, online lunchtime introduction to creative writing and narrative practice for women exploring boarding school and other institutional childhood experiences.
Meet us, discover our approach and experience how shared texts, gentle writing invitations and conversation can open up new ways of exploring experience.
No previous writing experience is needed, and there is no expectation to share anything personal. Curiosity, choice and care are central to our approach.
The session offers a taste of our one-day workshops and six-month course. Our work can be therapeutic in nature, but it is not therapy.

This informal lunchtime taster offers an opportunity to meet us and experience our approach through creative writing, shared texts and conversation. Discover how writing and narrative can open up new ways of exploring experience, with an emphasis on curiosity, choice and care, without further commitment.

How the Session Works
An introduction
Meet us, discover our approach and ask questions in an informal online setting.
Shared texts and conversation
A short text offers a starting point for curiosity, conversation and reflection.
A taste of creative writing
Experience a gentle writing invitation. No previous experience is needed.
Choice and participation
Sharing is always optional. You are equally welcome to listen and reflect privately.
Finding out more
Hear about our workshops and longer courses, with no expectation of further commitment.
Core Outcomes
By the end of the taster session, participants typically gain:

A clear sense of
the approach
Firsthand experience of the tone, pacing, and way writing invitations and discussion are held.

Something Meaningful to Take Away
An opportunity to write something meaningful to you and discover where your words might lead.

Practical prompts
to return to
Simple writing invitations that can be explored privately after the session.

Clarity about what
comes next
An opportunity to consider whether this approach feels right for you.
This taster offers a gentle introduction to the approach, with an opportunity to experience creative writing, shared texts and conversation. The aim is to provide a sense of what the workshops and courses offer, with space to ask questions and explore possibilities without any pressure to continue.
This course is for you if:
You attended boarding school and are curious about how that experience may still shape your sense of self, voice, or belonging
You are interested in creative writing as a reflective practice rather than as a technical skill
You want to experience the approach before deciding whether to commit to the six-month course
You prefer a short, contained session with clear structure and boundaries
This course is not for you if:
You are looking for therapy, counselling, or emotional support
You want detailed literary instruction or critique
You are not comfortable working in a live, group-based setting
You are unable to engage with reflective material at this time

Commitment and Participation
There is no expectation of further commitment. You are welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable, whether through writing, sharing or simply listening. Your writing can remain private, and there is no need for previous experience.
My Role as Host
I offer a warm welcome and gently guide the session, creating a relaxed and informal opportunity to discover the approach and find out more about the workshops and courses available.
Through a short shared text, gentle writing invitation and conversation, we offer a taste of how creative writing and narrative practice are used in our workshops and longer courses.
The emphasis is on getting to know us, experiencing something of what we do and asking questions. There is no expectation to share anything personal or make a further commitment, simply an opportunity to explore what might interest you.
